August 8th, 2026 from 10am -1pm will be our next Back To School Bash.
We want you to mark your calendars for our eleventh year!
Prayer for Back to School
Gracious God,
As a new school year begins, we lift before You all who are returning to places of learning. Bless preschoolers taking their first steps into school, children and youth returning to their classrooms, high school students preparing for the future, and college, university, trade school, and graduate students as they pursue knowledge, vocation, and purpose.
Surround teachers, professors, administrators, counselors, coaches, staff, bus drivers, custodians, and all who serve in our schools and campuses with wisdom, patience, strength, and joy. Bless parents, grandparents, guardians, and all who encourage and support students throughout the year.
Grant every learner a spirit of curiosity, courage in the face of challenges, and hearts that seek truth with humility and compassion. Keep our schools and campuses safe, foster communities of respect and kindness, and help each person grow not only in knowledge but also in character and love.
As Your Church, make us faithful in praying for those who teach, learn, lead, and serve. May this new school year be filled with opportunities to discover the gifts You have given, to bless others through them, and to walk each day in the light of Your presence.
We ask all this through Jesus Christ, our Teacher and Lord.
Amen.
Let the children come to me; do not stop them, for it is too such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them. Mark 10:14-16
Back-to-School Bash is always a wonderful time and a blessing to our community. The reality is that many of our students will face the school year at a disadvantage from their peers. They will be hindered because they do not have the means to get the supplies that are needed. Our goal in this event is twofold.
- To provide school supplies so that every student has a chance to enter the year with the tools necessary to succeed.
- To reach our community through means of grace that they may know they are loved by God and us!
This is how we follow Jesus’ command in Mark 10:14-16. By providing a safe and fun environment for kids to come and have fun, eat great food, and get the tools they need for the upcoming year. This is our way of helping and not hindering. I hope you will join us on this special day. We of course need volunteers but even if you are not able to help, come and see, listen, and experience the love of God in action!
Please accept our heartfelt thank you for your generous donation in support of the annual Back-to-School Bash. Your generosity enables us to continue this missional outreach to the children and families of our community and the assistance you provided was a significant factor in this year’s event being a success.
Our street festival was a huge blast! We handed out 792 bookbags, 300 ears of street corn, 200 corn dogs, 250 hot dogs, 30 gallons of tea and 10 cases of water! We used over 110 lbs. of ice to make snow cones. The Lion’s Club completed vision checks. Over 125 families visited Jordan’s closet. The bounce houses was full of laughing happy children. The UNC-G School of Nursing Minerva Mobile unit conducted 12 physicals. Best of all were the smiles on faces as kids had a chance to enjoy a day just for them before starting back to school.
Thank you again for your assistance with this event. Together we are showing our children authentic love that will impact them and make a difference in our community!
On August 8, 2026 we will celebrate our School Bash’s 11th year! So please mark this day on your calendar. It’s going to bigger and better than ever!
